DELHI Tourism

Delhi is capital of India. It is second largest city in India after Mumbai. Delhi stands on the west bank of Yamuna River.It has been the capital city of a succession of mighty empires and powerful kingdoms. Delhi is bounded by a northern extension of the Aravali Range known as Delhi Range. It is situated around 160 km south of the Himalayas. It covers an area of 1483 square km which include 932 km of Old Delhi.

Delhi is in northern part of india. Weather of Delhi is dry in hot summers. Generally wind flows from the west except during monsoon season. Summer season is from March to June, Winter season extends from november to february.

From tourism point of view there are many places in Delhi which you can visit. Also the Rail, Bus facility is very good. Delhi Metro Rail construction is going on.

About India

India

India or Bharat or Hindustan or Bharatavarsha is a country in South Asia. It is surrounded by Six countries which are Pakistan in northwest, China in north, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and Myanmar(Burma) in northeast.

India's coastline is of 5686 km. It is surrounded by Arabian sea in west and Bay of Bengal in east. Cape Comorin is the southermost point which divides these two oceans.

Indian is an democratic country consisting of 28 states, 6 union territories and the Delhi national capital territory. Among these 2 union territory (Lakshadweep, in the Arabian Sea, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, which lie between Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea) composed entirely of islands. In southeastern coast, the Gulf of Mannar and Palk Strait seperates india from Sri Lanka.

Starting from 8th centure AD to 13 century almost all of the subcontinent is ruled by Muslim emperors. In 1498 Vasco da Gama arrived to india and after only India comes in influence of European countries. British Empire has ruled in India till 1947.

Britishers administraion began in india in 1858. Still their legacy can be found in Parliamentry system of government. After britishers rule is over, they divided India in two separate countries- India with a majority of Hindus, and Pakistan, with a majority of Muslims.
India is most ethnically diverse countries in the world. It has many religions. Apart from many religions India has various castes and tribes.After independance India has made significant growth in Economic as well as in social terms.
